An important part of protecting a luxury vehicle is staying on top of maintenance. Most owners understand this, and have little problem adhering to this idea. The problem typically arises when it comes to the thought of sitting around and waiting for their vehicle to be serviced. Sure, it's not exactly the most exciting way to spend your time, but it shouldn't be torture. There are plenty of things you can do to make your maintenance appointments more enjoyable.
Ask Questions
While a service technician won't be able to pinpoint exactly how long your maintenance will take, their experience affords them the ability to offer a general idea. Use this information to determine whether you should wait or drop the vehicle off. If you're not in need of critical repairs, you may even be able to find out when they are typically the slowest, such as Wednesday afternoons, and schedule your appointment around this time.
Turn off the TV
The day prior to your appointment, avoid watching your favorite television shows. If you have a smartphone or tablet, you may be able to pull up these shows through your provider's app. Once you pop your headphones in your ear and press play, time will fly by and your car will be finished before you know it. If you're not much of a television watcher, bringing the book or magazine you haven't had time for is a great idea.
Check the Calendar
Check your calendar before making an appointment. Try to avoid scheduling a service appointment just before another important event. You will spend the entire time biting your nails and feeling anxious about getting to your next appointment. If you have school-aged children, make sure the day you're thinking about scheduling your appointment isn't an off day, as they may not exactly be excited about waiting at the dealership with you.
Play Catch Up
If you're a professional, you know that the idea of being caught up with work can sometimes seem like a distant fairytale. You can at least start the journey while waiting on your car. While outside the office and away from the traditional distractions, you can use this time to get caught up on emails, calls and reports so that when you do return to the office, it will be like you never left.
Having a more enjoyable, stress-free experience while gaining the confidence that you're protecting your vehicle with proper maintenance is a win-win. Before you know it, you will be back on the open road letting the wind glide through your hair.
